Presenting our Ombré Wedding Cake, a refined and elegant centrepiece designed to enhance the ambience of your wedding day. This cake features a smooth yet subtly ruffled buttercream finish, creating a captivating gradient that lends a sophisticated splash of colour to your celebration. Perfect for couples who appreciate understated elegance, the Ombré effect is particularly striking in pastel shades combined with pristine white, offering a harmonious and tasteful aesthetic.
Each cake is carefully handmade to order in our dedicated Sussex bakery, guaranteeing exceptional freshness and premium quality in every slice. We provide an extensive range of flavours and fillings, allowing you to tailor your cake to complement your wedding menu and individual tastes perfectly. Whether you prefer classic vanilla, indulgent chocolate, or a distinctive flavour combination, our expert bakers will craft a cake that reflects your personal vision.
We provide complimentary delivery throughout Sussex, Surrey, and London, ensuring your cake arrives punctually and in impeccable condition. The cake’s base colour is white, beautifully enhanced by your selected Ombré hue to seamlessly coordinate with your wedding theme. To personalise your cake further, you may choose silk floral decorations ranging from formal, sophisticated arrangements to wildflowers or rich foliage, each option designed to accentuate the cake’s natural charm and complement your overall décor.
Should you not specify a colour scheme, your Ombré Wedding Cake will be created as depicted in the main image, ensuring a timeless and tasteful design. Each tier measures approximately 5” in height, providing a generous size that serves your guests with elegance and poise.
Please be advised: our three-tier cakes are constructed with a central support column to maintain stability during transit. This support leaves a discreet 1 cm hole at the top of the cake, which we expertly conceal with flowers or fruit depending on your chosen decoration. If you prefer your cake undecorated on top, please notify us so we can apply additional icing to cover the hole after delivery, guaranteeing a flawless finish.
We also make a Free From version of this cake.

At Harry Batten, we stand behind everything we bake. If something has gone wrong with your order and it's down to us, for example it was damaged before it reached you, it isn't what you ordered, or there's a problem with the quality, we'll put it right. That might be a replacement, a partial refund or a full refund, depending on what's happened.
Just get in touch within 48 hours of receiving your order with your order number, a short description of the problem and a photo, so we can see what's gone wrong.
We can't offer a refund where there's nothing wrong with the bake itself, for example if it simply wasn't to your taste, or if it was damaged after delivery or collection, or wasn't stored as advised.
Any refund goes back to your original payment method and can take 5 to 7 working days to show, depending on your bank. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.
FAQs
Can we try the flavours first?
Yes. Our Wedding Cake Taster Box has six of our wedding flavours, or order both boxes to try all twelve. There are vegan and gluten friendly versions too. We post them free anywhere in the UK on Wednesdays, so they arrive on the Thursday.
Do you deliver to our venue?
Yes. Our own drivers deliver wedding cakes free to venues across Sussex, Surrey and south London, and we always arrive before your guests. We recommend delivery on the day of your wedding, and there are paid early time slots if your guests arrive during our free delivery window. You can check your venue's postcode here, or collect from our Burgess Hill bakery.
Does the cake arrive ready to display?
Yes. Every wedding cake arrives fully assembled and securely boxed, with an internal support structure. Our 3 tier cakes have a support column through the middle, and the small hole it leaves in the top is covered by the flowers or fruit. If you're providing your own flowers, your florist or someone from your wedding party will need to add them at the venue.
How do I place an order?
We take all orders via the website, this process has been designed to be as simple and easy as possible, you simply:
- Select your product, add it to the cart.

- Pay securely via debit or credit card. You will receive an order confirmation via email once the order has been placed.
What is the shelf life of your bakes?
All our cakes will keep for 5 days after delivery/collection, with the exception of cakes containing fresh fruit, which should be eaten within 2 days.
Our brownies and cookies will also keep for around 5 days and will have a "use by" date on the box.
Can you do a custom cake?
Yes, we do! In addition to the non-custom cake options available on our website, we can also create any cake you can imagine. Simply send us a message through the website to discuss your ideas.
How much notice do you require?
We need 48 hours' notice for most cakes, and you can book up to 18 months ahead. You choose your delivery or collection date when you order. If you need a cake sooner, get in touch and we'll see what we can do.
For wedding cakes, we recommend booking around 3 months ahead, but if we have availability we can sometimes take an order with as little as 48 hours' notice.
